| Wacom Cintiq 21UX | Aug 27, 2007 |
|
I bet there isn't one artist on this site that wouldn't want Wacom's new Cintiq 21UX. This is a 21.3" graphics tablet with 1024 pressure levels that lets you draw directly on the screen (the tablet is your screen). It retails for $2,499 but hopefully you can get it a little cheaper from one of the Wacom resellers.

always liked the idea of a cintiq, but technology still isn't on par with what a decent cintiq would require. talking about updatespeed, screen thickness, opaque hands. i've completely stopped using it since an intous delivers alot more and costs... well a tenth or something.

Wacom delivers the cintiq 21 and 12wx with a color management.Calibrating the monitor could probably help. I did this with my 12wx and a pantone huey, even if it is not perfect, the colors look much better now.

The cintiq is really nice, but you will need a second monitor with much better color quality. The Cintiq models have at best 550:1 contrast ratio. I have to do my final color work on a different screen or else things look washed out on a lot of better monitors.
