You have mastered the technique. Your work is amazing. I feel inspired to try Painter yet, alas, I am too lazy to spend the chair-time required to become as competent as I probably would want to be. I still prefer working with photos on the computer.
I have used oils, acrylics, charcol and pastels in the past. I learned that to draw realistically one must learn to actually see what you are looking at. Most people draw like they did in the sixth grade because they never learned to "see" like an artist. Controlling shape, light and shadow and shifting control to the creative right-side of your brain are essential skills for any artist. These skills can also be applied when behind a camera or looking at the computer screen. For anyone to learn these skills I recommend the book, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain."
While a photograph, from my trusty Panasonic DCM-FZ20, can be an end in itself; I have a ball working with Photoshop and all the tools and available add-ons. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store and tend to get carried away. But then, there really are no boundaries in art.
Robert, please continue to inspire and amaze me.
