My favorite part of this composition is the meshing tree canopies, though the blurred foliage and nearby ferns are pretty cool too.
The tree trunk framing the right edge and the aforementioned canopies, almost Mondrian-style, in their almost-L shape, shrink the actual positive space here, and the owl then guides us away from the L and toward all that is vital and in motion in the lower left portion.
Very nice.

A brilliant piece indeed!
The choice of colour works really great, as does the trees and the leaves.
The fact that you chose not to use ordinary grass is interesting.. and inspiring =)
I don't know how you did it, but this picture has so much movement! It seems alive, somehow. Especially the owl.
..also nice work with light and shading.
I like it, too.. =)
