Photoshop. 2 layers. One off white, top all black. I used the eraser tool like a scratch board on the balck layer to reveal the image. No pre-sketches or reference material used.

Very nice, especially that little tree--my fav part. The overall reminds me of Aliens, and Giger just a little. Also cool to hear someone else likes to draw with the eraser tool, too.
