I made this piece a while ago, thought I'd take a break from dragons and send something different.

great piece. i think the water fits the "settlers", "warcraft" kind of "subtle toony" style.

Nice to see you getting away from the Dragons (not that I don't like them) but this has such a different feel. The only thing I see wrong with is is the water, it seems out of context with the rest of the style, but that is my own worthless opinion. Nice perspective. Glad to see you moving on...

I really like this, man. Nice perspective and concept. The ships sailing to the island complete the concept of the title,"The Gathering". My first impression was that they were in attack mode, but I can see that they're all meeting for some mythical event. I love all of the small details, you're a great illustrator.

I think if you were to add more diffusing hairs to the edges of each feather and the hair of the rider, it would make them look softer and more wind blown. This would create some texture variations that would enhance the hard edged detail, such as the legs and tail. With your obvious skill in hard edged painting, mastering soft textures would make for incredible contrasts of material texture. This is such a small criticism that it's not even worth typing about, but I thought I'd share my advice. I'm posting a project soon where I came across the same problem, and softened the edges with some diffusing brush settings. I'll shoot ya a PM with the settings when I post it. I certainly don't think it's a big deal with this piece, this is such a wonderful composition. Your 50 hours of hard work really paid off here. Much respect.
