I would agree that there is bittersweet composition to this piece. The way the hand is holding the awesome little gun makes it seem as if it doesn't have any weight. The pose and expression of the face is unique, but doesn't convey much emotion to me. Kind of like a posed mannequin, except for the hand holding the orb.
Otherwise, there are some brilliant aspects of this! I like the textured background against the realistic character, very nice. The overall realism of the detailed character and the lighting from the orb are excellent. Either you combined 3d with 2d, or your good at capturing small shapes and accurate lighting. Either way, good job on that. The snow, like the background, is nice and painterly and creates good depth with the blur and the various transparency. Extremely cool contrast of styles.
I think if you work more on expression of form, you'll impress yourself for sure. That's one of the only weaknesses of this piece, but it often can be the most important strength to have.

hmmm there is something that doesn't quite get me here. it is a nice piece of work, but there is some choices i do not fully understand. is this a painting or a poser picture, or combined?
her eyes seem kind of dead, and her hand seems like it doesn't hold the gun... which is typical poser problems. it's my only grudge, but in my oppinion eyes, mouth and hands are the most important parts of almost any character.
keep it up. and do what you feel is the right thing to do. take all comments with a grain of salt.
