General Info:
A piece from my Fall 07 Independent Study. I started off as a simple sketch of a dragon that was done at work. I liked him enough to want to color him, and spent quite a while attempting to come up with a dynamic layout for him. I decided that a square or rectangular shape was not working for this particular scene, so in an attempt to 'think outside the box' a bit, I encased him in an oval. I was more satisfied with that, but then quickly realized that the image would look quite a bit better with a frame of some sort, so I added that in as well.
I had do do at least one dragon image last semester, I focused mainly on humanoid creatures, so this was a nice excuse to revisit my roots, so to speak.
Unfortunately the white background interferes with some of the detailing in the frame - it looks much better in print.
