The Shores of Ganryu

Musashi Miyamoto, a japanese master swordsman and strategist, is considered by many to be one of the most skilled swordsmen in history, not only in japan, but also the world. Musashi became legendary after winning and surviving so many duels with other famous master swordsmen throughout Japan. He was so good with his technique that even at a young age he was able to take on older and much more skilled opponents. He had several duels with different challengers, including one where he was forced to fight so many enemies all at once, and killing all or most of them or so iv'e heard. At a later time in his life, he wrote a book about strategy called, Go Rin No Sho - The Book of Five Rings. This is a very good book about strategy, much like "The Art of War" from China. It is read by many strategists and businessmen nowadays.

His most famous sword duel was with his ultimate rival Sasaki Kojiro. The duel took place on Ganryujima, or Ganryu / Funa Island located off the coast of present-day Shimonoseki, in Japan. Legend has it that he was late when he came to the island. And he came with no real sword in hand. He used a wooden sword to match Kojiro's Long sword. The battle ended with kojiro having a broken skull or so. Perhaps it was a battle of strategy, not a battle with blades. Perhaps the wooden sword was more effective in battles like that, or it was part of his overall strategy. People say Kojiro got flash blinded by the sun rays behind Musashi, and that he was a little bit off in position, that's why he lost. So, so many things. Hehehe. If ur interested, you should read more and ask help from google. hehe.

This is my fantasy version of the island of that famous duel.
