Johnny Deep (Portraits) digital artwork by Barb Kermis

Artist's Comment
I really love to paint this man! He has such great features and expressions. I ran out of time painting him and left out a lot of details but am happy with the end result.

As always ... thanks for looking!

One more thing AK, and I appreciate you asking why I do what I do because it shows you have an artistic interest, which I respect very much.

I have never had an art lesson and am "self taught" in digital art for only 2 years (since late July of 2004.

I only use a mouse and PSP, is which is not the most expensive software. But I feel I achieve a level of artistic success. Considering I do this for fun, I think I have done well in my endeavor.

And I do appreciate you asking what you did. I will always answer honest questions, rather than defend myself to "caustic remarks".

Sincerely,
Babs :)

I love painting Realism. And the best way to do that is to try to use a photo ref. In the case of Johnny Depp, that was an obvious mistake. I had a hard time determining colors and details because it is NOT a PHOTO. It IS a POSTER ref.

I like my hobby, and to paint something as close as I can to a photo, is my goal. You don't need to understand why I like to do this, only accept and respect that it is just my hobby :)

With all do respect for time you spend on this , I find it hard to understand the idea of repainting of the movie posters

Thank you Waheed AND Michael.

BOTH of your opinions are very much valued by me as I know you both to be much greater artists than myself.

Jerrica, my reference was very distorted so it was hard to determine colors, also everyones monitor shows colors different.

And Lily? My worst critics are people who have never even submitted a painting for critique.

Pretty nice, but why does some of the hair look blue/purple?
