Thanks guys for the comments. My intention was to create something that appears to be growing organically but is at least partially mechanized. I did think about softening some areas with a watery look but I liked the kind of microscopic look it had. It is a bit harsh but It had an intensity that I liked didn't want to loose. The eyes just needed to be there. I don't know why but it looked like an eyeless being without them. I agree they are bit haunting but I liked that too. Sort of like something that shouldn't be alive but is.

A Geiger-like quality to it. Perhaps its the texture colours and symmetry....(shrug). Just a thought (hope you dont mind) but did you think about adding cloud layers in photoshop? Perhaps overlay or screen. I really think that bumpy texture sells it.
