A MOUSE!? See, this is the kind of stuff that makes me want to keep on trying with my own mouse! I'll get a tablet soon, but I'll never quit sketching with my mouse in hopes that one day I'll be as good as you with it! You've really blown me away.

I don't know who pics the standouts and 99% of the time I don't agree with them, but don't judge it differently just because it got picked. This was a practise piece, nothing serious, wasn't meant to turn out to be a masterpiece in the first place. :P

so who is it that picks stand outs on this site and what in the name of [EDIT] are the criteria for the 'standout' pieces? This piece is lukewarm, tepid and boring at it's BEST. The most interesting parts are their shirts, and his is not to the level of hers -- DON'T STOP WHEN THE UNDERPAINTING IS DONE!!! this piece has a lot of potential, keep working on it and make it something awesome! Skin tones are nice, as is her shoulder area.
